The Iranian National Standards Organization, in order to carry out specialized evaluation of mosaic products and determine their quality characteristics, has developed Standard No. 755. Standard 1-755 is dedicated to testing mosaics for indoor use, and 2-755 is for products for outdoor use.
This standard measures characteristics such as dimensional deviation, edge straightness, surface flatness of the top face, flexural strength, abrasion resistance, water absorption, freeze-thaw resistance, and breaking load.
Each test characteristic includes different classifications, which generally indicate the level of resistance or deviation from low to high.
For example, in the breaking strength test for products intended for outdoor use, three categories are defined. In Class 1, which represents the minimum acceptable resistance level of the standard, this value must be at least 2.8 megapascals for individual samples and 3.8 for the average of test specimens. In contrast, the minimum breaking strength required for a product to be placed in the high-resistance class is 4 megapascals for individual samples.
In the marking section, it is also required that the manufacturer’s name or trademark be clearly printed on the back of the product, and information such as production date, national standard number, product title, and official shape and dimensions must be displayed on the packaging.
